What qualifications, skills and experience required the Virtual Medical Assistant to be successful in their role?
The Virtual Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory setting under the supervision of a physician. The Virtual Medical Assistant duties may include documentation of vital signs and assisting providers with patient exams. Moreover, the Virtual Medical Assistant will perform administrative tasks for healthcare practitioners. The Virtual Medical Assistant will ensure smooth functioning of a healthcare practice by improving productivity and profitability in private practices, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Also, the Virtual Medical Assistant will act as an extension of healthcare providers medical back-office team by providing record keeping, customer service, billing and accounting and management. The Virtual Medical Assistant main objective would be to achieve timely delivery of the client’s work with high accuracy.
Virtual Medical Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assists in coordinating patient care with clinical staff by reviewing the patient schedule to ensure appropriate support is available at the appointed times.
- Manage contact center operations – inbound and outbound calls, email and chat.
- Appointment Scheduling – manage appointments, rescheduling and cancellations.
- EMR Management – Ensure EMR is always up to date.
- Prior Authorization – manage the entire prior authorization process.
- Order prescriptions.
- Complete patient charts.
- Insurance follow ups.
Virtual Medical Assistant Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Solid experience in healthcare knowledge.
- Effective oral written, and phone communication skills
- Works well independently with strong organization, collaboration and time management skills
- Knowledge of clinical practices and diagnostic and treatment procedures
- Ability to use good clinical judgment, critical thinking skills, and to interpret/adapt/apply guidelines and protocols.
