The Senior Director of Audit will be tech-savvy, and enterprising to manage a team in audits. The Senior Director of Audit has a mentality that matches any organizational mindset. The Senior Director of Audit has spent part of their career in traditional auditing.  The Senior Director of Audit must be a total fanatic of Excel. The Senior Director of Audit role requires a special mix of someone that lives in the details, is willing to get their hands dirty, yet can manage the audit’s direction from a higher level. The Senior Director of Audit will do a high-volume of auditing on their own, while also managing team members who work side-by-side on other portions of an audit.  The Senior Director of Audit will constantly be thinking about what is next, increasing the value in the current audits and working with the leadership team to find ways to generate new business.

The Senior Director of Audit Responsibilities:

  • Manage and drive risk-based audits and advisory projects within a dynamic environment
  • Oversee the preparation of audit reports with findings and recommendations; present and discuss the reports with Management
  • Use critical thinking for problem solving, risk identification and recommendations
  • Follow up with the business for process improvements, cost saving opportunities and value added Management Action Plans to address the identified findings to reduce risk across the organization
  • Assist the Director with the preparation of all reporting required to management and the Audit Committee based on audit findings
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and colleagues
  • Conduct research of new and emerging issues and best practices in risk assessment, auditing and accounting
  • Analyze audit results to help better understand, communicate and evaluate any significant internal control, accounting or operational business issues
  • Conduct opening and closing meetings with Management
  • Oversee the team resources and works closely with Managers to efficiently ensure engagement objectives are being met during the timelines established

The Senior Director of Audit Requirements:

  • Accountant
  • Solid experience in financial services or a related role
  • Strong working experience with financial clients
  • Experience with data analysis, AML/ regulatory OFSI are assets
  • Bachelor or Master Degree
