Hello. My name is Tosh Cook, and I’m the founder of #gigRonin. In 1995 Amazon started a website selling books, and in 2019 they accounted for half of all retail sales in the United States. That’s a shocking number, which speaks to the efficiency of #platform marketplaces.
But even more shocking is that has taken 25 years for the fallout to reach the staffing industry. Ready or not, it’s here now. Let’s start by asking, what the heck is a platform?
That word gets thrown around heavily in the workforce management industry, and it can have a bunch of different meanings. In the case of staffing, a platform is a medium of producers and consumers come together over a handy app that facilitates the transaction in ways a traditional processes simply can’t.
If you own or manage of staffing company, it’s time to become familiar with this concept, especially in light of the news that indeed is entering the #staffing industry with an app-based offering called Indeed Flex.
They announced their entry point is light industrial staffing in Texas, but I’m sure they’re going to quickly scale up nationally. Uber also jumped into hospitality staffing under the Uber Works brand and jumped out do the pandemic.
That’s safe to say they’ll be back in the recovery, positioning themselves as a great alternative for venues and restaurants to meet the opportunity of pent-up demand.
